SteamQuiz

Privacy & cookies

Last updated 19 August 2026.

The short version

SteamQuiz has no accounts and asks for no personal details. We don't know who you are. One small cookie remembers your answers to today's quiz so the site works, and a couple of settings (theme, sound, currency) are stored in your browser. Some outbound "buy" links may earn us a commission. That's it.

Who runs this site

SteamQuiz is an independent, hobby-scale daily game quiz. For any privacy question, or to raise a concern, email [email protected].

What we store on your device

We keep no database record that identifies you. What exists lives on your own device:

  • A session cookie (sid). A random ID with no personal meaning. It lets the site remember which questions you've answered today and show your results, so the quiz can work at all. This is a strictly-necessary cookie and can't be turned off without breaking the game, but you can clear it any time (see below).
  • A currency preference (cur). Remembers whether you chose to see store prices in £, $ or €.
  • Display settings (in local storage). Your light/dark theme and whether sound is muted, kept in your browser's local storage so the site looks the same on your next visit.

None of these are shared with anyone, and none carry your name, email or any identifier you gave us (you never gave us one).

Analytics

We don't currently run any analytics or visitor-tracking service. If that changes we'll update this page and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Links to game stores

On the answer screens we link out to game stores (Steam, and others via the price service IsThereAnyDeal). Some of those links are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you buy something, at no extra cost to you. Following a link takes you to a third-party site with its own privacy policy, which is worth a look before you buy.

Where the quiz data comes from

The questions are built from public Valve Steam Web API and storefront data and community tags from SteamSpy. That's data about games, not about you. SteamQuiz is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation.

Your choices

  • Reset everything: clear this site's cookies and local storage in your browser. Your sid, currency and settings all disappear, and you start fresh.
  • Data rights: UK/EU data protection law gives you rights over personal data. Because we hold none that identifies you, there is nothing for us to look up, correct or delete. For data Google holds through its ads, contact Google. For anything else, email us at [email protected].

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change what data is involved (analytics, accounts, new ad or affiliate partners), we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be obvious on the site.
